Fantasy football has been a mainstay in the lives of NFL fans for as long as most of us can remember, but the internet and the sheer abundance of online fantasy football options has made the hobby grow faster than anyone could have possibly predicted. It is now easier than ever to join a league, compete with friends, keep track of stats, and of course trash-talk your way to the top of any fantasy league. However, actually winning requires a healthy mix of pre-game planning, fantasy football research, and of course a nice chunk of luck week in and week out. That is because the numbers consistently change every week as new stars emerge, former all-stars fade away, and injuries play a major role in the impact that players have on a weekly basis.

While fantasy football drafts get all of the attention, and have hardcore fans studying weeks in advance planning their top picks and trying to find steady sleeper candidates, the waiver wire and week to week moves are often the difference between gaining bragging rights or bringing up the rear within your league. A simple set it and forget roster will not bring about the points or results that you need unless you are in a shallow league and have absolutely everything go your way. Keeping an eye on emerging players, and the stars of tomorrow will also replacing injured players with their backups can often be the key to winning your fantasy football league outright. With that said, it is obvious that dedication to the craft is crucial for long term success.

That doesn’t mean that you have to be a hardcore football fan in order to enjoy fantasy football though, as the hobby is fun no matter how much time you put into it. Whether you join a casual, free, and just for fun league or put money down to compete with hardcore friends or experts, fantasy football definitely has a little bit of something for everyone. It is simply an unforgettable way to make the football games on the weekend even more exciting and add a personal touch to each and every game. Just be prepared, as fantasy football is known for being incredibly addictive.
